Cool finds! That gold quarter reminds me of the 2000 dollar/quarter mule.

Crownman, cool! Got a question. On that CoinStar machine, aren't you folks required to turn that coin over to CoinStar? In other words, if you wanted, could you sell it to a customer, unaudited? I guess I'm wondering how that relationship works between the store and CoinStar. Hey, I'll say it, I'm not proud. I want one of those bags!

i got my start searching my cash register at work after I gave away a proof quarter and the customer told me about it I got a bunch of silver and wheats from my job too I worked at a convenient store though so I could hold my drawer open all night to search I also pulled bills out. I spent a lot of time in the drawer and when people paid I would put there money in the extra slots for big bills and dollar/half dollar coins to search when the left

Nice going there. My daughter works in a little country store and she gets some pretty good finds from time to time.

@eddiespin I'm just seeing the coins in the "jam area" before the coins drop down into the big metal boxes with wheels on them. At that point they're CoinStar's property but before that they're however wants em hehe. Whenever I open the machine to help a customer and see the pile of change that can't go through the sifter I will have to assume it's the customers change there (even though it could have been a previous one) and ask, "Did you have this Peace dollar in your jar?" or whatever else of interest is in there. Of course I hope they say no, but if they say yes (which I can't prove if they REALLY did) I hand it to them. Most of them don't know it's worth a lot more than a dollar. Otherwise it goes in a jar on the inside of the door with all the other rejected coins (95% are bent coins) but since I've never seen a CoinStar employee empty that jar in 10 YEARS I assume it's of no interest to them. A few years ago CoinStar updated their machines to sort coins more efficiently and ever since then I have found a lot fewer finds. Maybe people are just not throwing as many silver coins in there anymore. I'm still jealous of my friend who opened the machine one night and found 6 Peace dollars in there!

What is the date and state on that gold coloured quarter? There is an experimental rinse planchet type that a small number of quarters were struck on.

Thanks, crowman. I didn't think it was easy to get those bags, but, given your position in the store, I just had to ask you.
