Hookshot New Member United States 30 Posts	Posted 10/19/2006 9:12 pm First I'd like to thank all those who've helped me identify errors (and non-errors) -- it's been wonderful to have so many experienced eyes look them over. This appears to be a coin with a piece of tape or paper embedded in it. Are there any specific tell-tale signs for a struckthrough of this type? Thanks again all. swamperbob Pillar of the Community United States 5362 Posts	Posted 10/22/2006 9:03 pm Hookshot - The coin you show has seen a considerable amount of actual circulation wear based on the loss of details. There is little chance that the tape would have survived that long. But that said there is one way to be sure. Look for damage to the surface of the coin UNDER the tape. I think I see several dings on the coin surface under the tape. The strike is so forceful that all stray marks are REMOVED by the pressure. So if there is a cut ANY cut visible under the tape - it is NOT a strike through. Report this Post to the Staff
