Very nice! How does the silver price affect an 1893-CC Morgan though? Did you lose money on your bullion silver holdings?

Yeah the sudden drop in my Silver bullion hoard just took away my excitement. I didnt technically lose money, but I lost a lot of money I could have had.....about $4000
The AU-50 1893cc I almost bought was close to $1200. I might look into getting an 1879cc first now.

Quote: If you're confident in the grade, that's a great price. That's practically "cleaned" price for AU50. Well that definitely wasn't his starting asking price, but I had been communicating with him for some time and $1200 was going to be my final offer and I think he may have accepted. 1893cc is kind of an odd year, its rare but it does'nt have the mystic or appeal of an 1879cc or 1889cc. Prices are high in the guides but I dont think there are many buyers who actually are willing to pay what the guides say. Of course I could be wrong, but thats the sense I've gotten. Quote: They look great! What grade are they? The 1891 is NGC graded AU-58 Top 100 Vam-3 Spitin Eagle. The 1892 I'm hoping will be AU-58 also.

Nice CC's, Cali. I really like the look of the '92, a coin with a better look than most low ms Morgans.

Hello Cali, Congratulations on your awesome CC Morgans! They both look to be MS to me. Are you sure you aren't being a little harsh with your grading of these two raw coins or is there evidence of wear on the two coins that we just can't see in the photographs. I have purchased most of my coins raw from local dealers and haven't submitted any to the TPGs as of yet. Which TPG are you going to get yours graded with? Just curious.

I have more detailed pictures in the grading forum. The 1891cc has a bit of a rim ding on the reverse so I'm thinking that kept NGC from giving it an MS grade?. I've also heard that NGC will give CC coins a "safe" grade if they suspect some lite cleaning. Of course this is only my theory and it could be totally wrong. The 1892cc I'm just guessing, but am hoping for au-58. I have a gut feeling if I sent it to ANACS it would come back as MS-60 cleaned, so theres the question... would it be better to have a coin AU-58, or MS-60 "cleaned"? Im probably going to use NGC because I have some GSA CCs that I want to submit, and NGC will grade them inside the GSA slab.
