found it in a cash register

the quarter to the right is the one I suspect, the one on the left is a normal quarter

there is like a strange dent and Lincoln looks different

reupman,

I think you're getting old, like the rest of us. It looks fine on the left.

Well, the last S is smushed a bit, I can see it looking reversed at first glance.

Now, honestly a counterfeit '95 quarter? IF SO, don't report it, keep it. I'm joking a bit, but you don't have a counterfeit. I agree, not so much PMD, as some circulation wear and damage. Still a nice examination piece to help i.d. wear issues, and possible PMD issues.

I agree PMD on the ding. Washington looks different on the 95 because sometime between 81 and 95 the mint retooled/updated the master die. I do not know exactly when, it is common for the mint to periodically do this as the master dies lose their sharpness after making so many working dies.

PMD, then environmental exposure, then back to circulation. That would account for the strange appearance.

The Washington quarter series had 9 different obverses and 4 reverses from 1965-1998. The left obverse was used 1977-1981 and the right obverse was used 1994-1998.
