Buy yourself a 2011 or 2012 US Coin Red Book has coin values in it for all coins and sets. They list 2003 ASE PF $55.00

problem is you can't just base prices off of the RedBook because of silver prices jumping.....the proof american silver eagles are deffinitly the way to go for collecting AS LONG as you buy them in the box and have the certifcate of authenticity....most precious metal sites are selling the basic proof American silver eagles just above $100 a piece right now ( APMEX for example)......the fact that its slabbed and ms-70 would be why you paid more because it is considered "perfect".....most proof eagles are going to grade ms-69 area so most do not get them slabbed....i myself love the proof eagles and collect them when they come with box and certificate.....still a BEAUTIFUL coin and would love to receive it as a gift ;)

Would something like this carry a higher premium in Britain? Retail here would be about US$120.00 to US$130.00. Your wife paid about US$212.75. You decide.

I don't think she was taken if the individual she bought it from is an established storefront business, but it was somewhat high in price. Keep in mind she did not buy the gold plated U.S. quarters, that I can see you having a heart attack on. Again, she cared enough of your other interests to keep you happy, that again is priceless. Welcome to the CCF my AMIGo on the Atlantic side of the Rio Grande.

it was a london coin shop as I said had a gold award as a top rated seller, I guess we in the UK are paying way above the norm as there are other coins of a similar grade date & price if not more on ebay at the moment, the seller she bought it fom had a 2003 & 2004 at same price she got the 2003, I just seen a 2004 coin graded ICG-MS70 at £229.40 from another UK seller so it could have been worse she could have bought that lol, I intend to keep buying hoping to keep my coins at an average £100 to £200 as I'm not buying to sell just looking for a hobby and a nice collection so anyone got any advice within my price range of good silver coins I should keep an eye out for cheers for you help so for guys very much appreciated

For TPG stick to PCGS, NGC, and ANACS, with PCGS being the best of the 3. Be carefull of counterfeits see this link on what's been floating on e-bay: http://www.flickr.com/photos/coinforgeryebay/As far as what to collect: Like the rest us, you've got the world to choose from and all time periods, just focus on one area and go from there. Send pics.
