Regular readers of this forum should recognize my efforts to complete a 50-coin Classic US Silver Commemorative type set in relatively high MS grade.
My MS set has been a great and enjoyable quest ... while I am pursuing at the same time an even tougher quest .... to collect the same type set in well circulated condition.
I have a Dansco 7094 which now contains 26 of the 50 type coins in circulated condition. Requirements are original surfaces and honest circulation wear. These are very tough coins to find in the market!
Every now and them I come across a truly well worn 'pocket-piece' .... and that is the purpose of this post .... to share my joy with this 1946 Booker T. Washington Half Dollar.
E-Pray seller ($18.39 + shipping) claimed the coin was dateless ... observation through my 7x loupe reveals it as a 1946 Philly mint coin. First year of issue for this 18 coin BTW series (year/mm combinations). Huge mintage for a classic silver commemorative .... 1,000,546 coins.
The coin weighs 11.79g ... a weight loss of 5.7% versus the original nominal weight of 12.50 grams ... weight loss is consistent with the amount of wear.
I grade the obverse FR2 and the reverse AG3 .... a truly lovely honest original skin coin.

Here she is ....

The great joy in this dual quest of mine is to compare the well-worn coins with their equivalent MS examples ... and behold in the wonder of just what exactly did that coin experience.
Soooo ... here is the other end of the grading spectrum for this coin ... my 1950-S PCGS MS66 CAC blast white example:

Great fun indeed ...
Appreciate any and all comments on the coin.
David
ps ... if anyone enjoys this 'comparison' type post ... then I have 25 other circulated lovely coins to show someday.
