New Orleans is known for a soft strike. MS-64. Good date, BTW.

I'm always amazed that some of the these dollars saw enough wear to get them down to G-4 condition.
Must have been heavily used in Casinos hard to believe they would get used enough in normal commerce to strip that much metal off.

Simply beautiful. Prototypical G-4. With your permission, Dave, CCF will see this one again. Are these the full-size images?

Never need my permission Super ;) Thank you. Yeah, just picked this one up on the bay. I really liked the originality of the coin. It almost makes G6 IMO, but just slightly too much wear. Morgans will more than likely be my next venture. I am going to try to put a lower grade set together.

I could see that piece as a G06 for sure. It has no distracting marks or other problems and is from New Orleans. A Choice Good.

I think the Morgans that have been around the block a couple of times have character. They make me wish they could talk. Just imagine the stories they could tell!

When I purchase coins in these lower grades, that is the second thing I think about just after the initial enjoyment of seeing it for the first time. 1903-O, okay, New Orleans 1903. What was life like in New Orleans in 1903? It is cool ;)

I think about who may have carried these coins or what did they buy with them. With the IHCs I wonder if maybe they had been in a soldier's pocket during battle, was he Union or Reb, what battle? You get the point, it's the history that fascinates me as much as rarity or value.

I know what you mean. Few hobbies offer that kind of enjoyment and history.
