I was looking at that earlier, with the dipped 48 imo it's overpriced, that's the what.. second or third time he's listed it.

I can't evaluate it, the pictures aren't good enough. But the description is good enough to indicate that he can't really tell if a coin has problems or not on his own so that kind of casts doubt on the rest of the coins. Guesstimate it at a 900 less than he's listing... depends on how much you discount the 48 for being dipped I think. He says the 45 is EF and the 38 AU... the 47 is the blunt version..

The truth is I'd spend 2K on a problem free version of the 48 before I'd buy a pile of mid grade silver for 750 more. Heck I'd spend the entire amount on the best 45 I could get and be happier. But this all personal view points, there's nothing there to base a real technical assessment on and that's a lot of faith to ask, 2750 hard earned dollars for three bad pictures.

Thanks for the info. I know you know a lot more about your native coins than I could pretend to. I've always loved them though, and it was nice when I lived close to the border b/c the shops had their own Canada sections right along with the US stuff.
BTW - curious as to the idea of the 45 - mind sharing some more wisdom/experience? I am not sure who it was on the forum - might have been you - that I once saw a post saying they thought the 1948 to be over hyped.

It wasn't me as far as I know. I think the 48 is what it is... rare. But it's a well known rare and everyone who comes across one seems to want to sell it. Compare the listings for the 48/45 , there's 11 or 12 of the 1948, many have problems. Look at the 45, maybe 20 listings, 2 in mint state and really hard to get in higher grades. I had pure heck trying to upgrade mine a long time ago, appears to be easier now. I'd like a pretty MS 65 but I like my arm and leg attached too so there goes that idea.

In theory there are ~ twice as many 45's as 48's. It's always a battle to find bargains on either.

You mean the unopened bank roll of 45's I have might be worth something?

Don't we both wish! I'd send you one or two if I had that many. Thanks for the info. Have to wonder if the War was not the reason the 45s were used so heavily and few nice ones saved.
