After going back and forth for a few days, I finally purchased my first gold piece - a 1/10th ounce 2010 panda.
Being only 18 years old, I couldnt get myself to spend more than 185 for a coin. I'm just a beginner, so my collection only consists about 20 ounces of silver, some proof sets, and now a fractional piece of gold :D
Just wanted to share my excitement with people who can appreciate it :D

I remember my first one. I was about 11-13 years old... back then I just liked coins, but I spend like 119$ and got a 1999 1/10oz eagle proof, and I still have it! I knew it was an investment, but never really thought of it as one.
Its good to get started, dont forget to invest in other things too!

Yeah I'm hoping by the end of the year I can build up one full ounce of the same coin. I can afford spending 150 - 200 here and there, but I cant afford spending 1400 in one hit. I understand that Ill be spending about 200 bucks in premiums by the time everything is said and done, but its a financial option that works for me. And with money I receive for the holidays, graduation, and craigslist selling I think its doable. I'm excited :D

Congrats and a nice choice for your first piece of gold assuming you purchased it from a reputable source.

And congratulations! The excitement never goes away either when you just take the time to sit, stare, and appreciate the beauty.

Wow great buy, glad you went with that size and Panda!
Your only 18 eh, that is fantastic! I love to see the younger generation getting on board. I think that one that is thinking of the future that early is way ahead of the curve and most of your piers....
Junior e told me the other day in my collection picture thread that...."Think what a hoard you will have when you get close to retirement", and I am 37. Young, but no spring chicken like yourself, touche I say!
Keep stacking those gold coins, you will have a nice short working career, and a nice long sweet retirement!

Congratulations ! I myself have budgeted a certain amount for some gold purchases but have not made any purchases yet - I am just not sure what I really want in gold yet.
