I would like some grade opinions & any info. on this. I put it at EF45 conservatively. It may even be low AU? Thank You All in advance.

Some of the pictures are hard to see, but it looks like decent detail on there. I'd agree with the VF-45 but I don't see it as an AU.

Can you make the pictures right-side-up, please? It's hard to grade them when you have to tilt your head. Looks like a nice coin, though.

It looks like XF or XF+ but maybe a little bit of gunk in some places? Nice rare date, but tough to grade from pics.

I have a few Seated halves but none in the 80's, I would grade this one as VF 35.

No chance for AU with this much wear; I think VF-35 is about right (there's no such grade as VF45). The dark color could be natural or possibly a symptom of exposure to a corrosive environment. This is a scarce date that should (IMO) be graded by NGC, PCGS, or ANACS to confirm authenticity and to determine whether the surfaces are original.

Thanks for the new pictures! They are much better . Anyways, I'd have to grade it VF-30. with Jaobler that you should have it certified by TPG.

Have it conserved by NCS, or maybe try to dip it in acetone first?

VF-35 with a possible squeak to EF-40.

A VERY nice rare specimen! A good $400+ coin! (I also like how the A and T in STATES are joined at the base). Sweet Seated Half!

I have to admit a bit of drool here...

FYI: My grade justification:

This is my 1883 Seated Half, EF-40 from ANACS (now out of the slab). Yours seems (to me) to have just a touch less detail, hence my grade).

Moe, your 1883 is XF-45 (or close) in my opinion...I think that they were harsh on it. That may have been because TPG's often pick a conservative grade when giving a 'details' grade, or also partly because of the scratches on the eagle. Or maybe they misinterpreted some strike issues on the lower reverse as wear?

I appreciate all your input on this. I was hoping for a EF45, but I am still please w/ the community's average grade.

There is some build up around the devices/top of eagle's head. Upon a closer look, it seems like they will come off. I will do an acetone soak. Should I try to flake the build up off?

ShadowCreator I'm not sure what area your speaking of? Is it the area round Liberty's head? These are just dark areas.

Moe145 I like yours also. Nice with a mintage of 8,000. Mintage of mine 12,000. Want to trade?

On the reverse primarily, it looks like there is some 'darkened' PVC. I see some black greenish gunk.
