I'd like to hear some opinions on grade, also what should I have paid for this coin. I'm still trying to brush up on my amateur grading skills.

VG8 - can't go higher than that because the sticks are too far gone.

CDN ask - $100

Thanks for the help, if the sticks were somewhat visible would that make the grade go up somewhat? I took a $71 gamble off ebay, seller only had pic of obverse and had 0 feedback. I'm happy with it, nicer then my other d...

Nice!
That takes guts, but somebody has to buy from the seller form the first time.

I'd say you made your money, the 2011 Red Book lists G as $80 and VG as $130, I'd say its worth $125, but who knows what someone would pay for it.

Good buy, but someone should verify authenticity just in case.

As stated, CDN ask is $100. You did well at $71. Coin appears original to me.

Seems like G-6 to me. According to Coin Values, a VG-8 specimen is worth $150, however it should go for about that, thanks to the toning and strong obverse wings. You should have it authenticated by TPG.
