Bust Quarter On Ebay: Possible Contemporary Counterfeit?

I saw this quarter and it looks like it might be a counterfeit, possibly one made during the 1800's and used in circulation. The "25 C" in particular looks wrong. If it is a contemporary counterfeit I doubt it is actually made from 90% silver. Might be attractive to those folks interested in counterfeits.

Thoughts?

My first thought was that it may not be a counterfeit but I now agree with you, looking at my 1836 (I don't have an 1835) the 25C on the reverse is completely different.

I don't know if its counterfeit or not but it could be, I don't know is 25¢ coins were counterfeited back then like the dollar coins were but I guess its possible

The coin looks like it is made of lead by the texture and color. It seems you have doubts about this coin or you wouldn't have asked for opinions here so, it might be in your best interest pass on this piece and wait until you find another that actually looks "right."

There are cast counterfeits known of this die marriage. (Steve M. Tompkins, Early United States Quarters 1796-1838)
