Hi,

I was given 2 old american coins recently.
Do you know what these 2 coins are? Some details about them?
What is their estimated value?
And finally: do they look GENUINE?

THE 1ST ONE:

The first one is a counterfeit coin and the second one is a fantasy piece. Sorry to say they aren't worth anything but at least you didn't pay for them

I agree with the above statement that the first one is a counterfeit coin and the second one is made with the Morgan dollar Obverse paired with "I have no idea" Reverse and would be considered a fantasy piece since nothing like that was ever minted by the US Mint

Thank you guys!
I guess I should destroy them now and throw away... I don't like fakes
Thanks for your help!

Well, ultra, let me suggest this~~~~~~~~keep them and label them as fakes. That gives you a visible in-hand coin to show or refer to when you need to show others how easily fakes can be made, or give you some "loupe" diagnostics to see how they are fakes vs. the real coins, re strikes, filed condition, it goes on.
If you really want to destroy them, may I ask that I get them instead? They would be a good reference for me to use to show new collectors WHY a new collector can walk into a trap. I can take 'scoped pic.'s that point out the why's then.

IF, you might be interested in letting them live with me, I suggest you simply use something to scratch the word "FAKE" in one of the fields on each coin, that will relieve you of any concern, and for me also, LOL, that these may be real. If, not, that's cool.

Check if either of them ding when dropped...I highly doubt it, but it's worth checking for silver content.
