Hello, this is my first post so please be gentle!

Anyway, I've got a coin that I don't seem to be able to find info on which I bought with a lot of uncleaned roman coins.

It does not appear to be roman (the text might be in greek?), but anyhow, I wondered if someone here might be able to identify the coin or at least where it came from/what sort of age.

Appologies for the quality of the images...

Thanks!

Looks late Roman to me, but I am far from an expert. Perhaps Sap might be able to identify it.

Certainly all my other coins are 4/5th century but they all have text on the heads side. This doesn't seem to, I'm not sure what the shield (?) thing is on the tails side either but I think the two lines next to it are meant to be spears...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the chap depicted seem to be wearing an helmet? That's not too common is it?

Can you try cropping the photos and resubmitting them so the coin is more visible? That will help identify it.

Can you tell what the metal is that it is made of? Bust looks a bit like one you would find on a Republican era coin. Hard to say, though. I personally can not make much out on it.

I've just found out it is from Kallatis in Thrace from 3rd-2nd Century BC!

Here is a picture of a better one.

The helmeted head is Athena, and the shield on the reverse is surrounded by a club and quiver.
The text on it once said Kallatis.

Thanks

Yep. ID confirmed.
