when I check the rolls of coins I get from the bank sometimes I find gold plated coins. is there anyway yo get the gold off the coins. I thought of electrolysis do you think that will work?

By what I understand, the amount of gold used to electroplate those coins is so thin, it wouldn't be worth your time. I think it is literally just a few molecules thick.

Normally you got a cathode and an anode and one gives the material and one receives the material
But I seem to remember with gold the gold is in a solution and electrochemically transferred
So if you have that solution in a depleted state ( all the gold gone ) and then you reverse the current ( make the positive pole the negative ) it should work
