In order for a Barber half dollar to receive a grade of VF both rails above and below "Liberty" MUST be visible and the word "Liberty" must have a good strike.
Good as being defined in that all letters are visible as opposed to a "Bold" strike where every letter is obvious without a loop.
I would probably rate this coin as Fine. Reasons: 1) Bottom rail is worn off the coin. 2) Liberty does not have all the letters visible. The "B" is barely there as well as the "E" and "R". 3) Appear to have a rim ding/damage at 5:00 on the obverse.
I have to agree it just misses VF. A grade of F-15 seems fair, with the market price slightly impacted by the rim ding. That's pretty small though and I bet many collectors wouldn't even notice it. Surfaces look attractive and original.
