Not having much luck finding these at local banks. We picked up a Whitman book and would like to fill it. Where do most of you find them?

I've found some at a few banks, but mostly loose change. None in the way of the grades I'd like to start an album with. Then again, I barely ask for them.

well I am a small dollar searcher and from the bank I have picked up 2000 2001 2002 and 2004 but any thing after 2001 was not intened for cirulation untill the 2009 the other years you are going to have to cut mint sets or coin shows or shops or the net and if you get cirulated 2000 Sacs make sure you look at the tail feathers for the cheerios dollars

I get a good variety of dollar coins from change machines usually located near vending machines.

I use to go to the post office. The vending machines had books of stamps you could buy.So I would put in 20 dollars and in change I would received all sac and SBA in change. I ended up with a bunch of stamps in the process. I also ended up with a bunch of dollar coins.

Only thrice in the last ten years have I found dollars that weren't intended for circulation; two were 1981-S SBA's and I bought a mint roll of 2003-P Sacagaweas that someone cashed in at a bank. A while ago, I read that those who do order $1,000 boxes of dollars look for proofs, NIFC pieces (1981 Anthony, 2002-2008 Sacagaweas, and varieties like the Cheerios dollars). I do wonder if you do order a box, if it would be 40 rolls of the latest president or the latest Native American design, as opposed to mixed rolls. I find my dollars mostly from banks, and from car washes that give out the coins as opposed to a lot of quarters.

I've ordered dollar boxes from my local bank and have had good luck requesting either mixed dollars or the different Presidents, so you might be able to specify mixed from your bank if you try.

I would think ebay would work. For the more difficult to find I'm sure that coin dealers in some of the coin magazines would have singles available.

When you find those at the bank they are usually in terrible condition. I would try your local coin shop or the next coin show.Or last resort...ebay. Good luck in your search!

I found a coin shop not to far from home that has them for $2.50 each in uncirculated condition. Thought hunting them like we do with pennies, nickels and dimes would be fun. Turning out to be a little tougher than I thought, but isn't that half the fun?

I used to get them at the post office until they replaced their vending machines with cashless (debit/credit card) versions.

Go to metered parking lots and use the dollar change machines.
