Why would a "pattern" gold coin be struck in harder CuNi?

I like really rare coins, and the quility of this one speaks for itself. I think that anyone willing to have NGC do a metal analysis on a coin deserves the benefit of the the doubt. Would someone please loan me 3 million dollars so that I can help this person to buy some real gold as a learning experience?

Reading that is all very amusing--as long as I don't try to make sense of their logic.
You have to wonder if it's a conscious scam, or they actually believe their stories?
