Something does not look right to me on this coin. It has clear distinct brow hair yey the clasp and hair at the neck are showing wear. Similar issues (to me) on the reverse too.

XF-45 in my opinion. Only issue might be the ding on Liberty's neck. Overall a great coin! I love this design. It looks to be a worn die by the slight Cud on the reverse by 50C, also the 'sliding' words on the reverse. This accounts for uneven wear.

Yep maybe 49/70, looks a little better than EF but not quite AU

I noticed the worn die via the lettering but did not know that that would show uneven wear points. Thanks for a grading tip.

This is a gorgeous coin! I've never seen denticles like that... Also the 5 in 50 C. and the E in E Pluribus Unum and the 8 and 0 in the date... It'd be great to get some more serious half collectors to look at this one and give us an Overton Number! =)

is this a O-112? I have no idea just guessing because I saw another one that looks similar and it said it was an O-112. it says the O-112 is 50/20 so not sure if this is what this is or not

Wow. What an absolutely terminal die state. O-112, because O-111 (sharing the same reverse) wouldn't show that much die wear. I feel the die wear must be taken into account when grading a coin; this coin, to me, is consistent with two PCGS AU53's recently auctioned by Heritage, coins whose die wear was equally terminal.
AU53, then. Value something north of $2300, depending on opinion of the ding at 11:00 in the obverse denticles.
What a heck of a coin.

I can't believe I got that correct with just the small amount of research I did on the coin. I have to be honest when I first saw the coin my first thought was counterfeit because something about the design looked weird to me. So I hit the internet looking for other halves of this date and saw it did look correct and that is when I tried to see if I could match the Overton number

I too believe this coin is better than XF; its a worn die high grade coin. Where did you get this?

I bought this many years ago from a local coin dealer. I can't even remember what I paid for it.

At a glance I was thinking XF40. This due to the flat tops of the Hair and stars on the Obv, and the Wings, head and feet of the Rev. With a late die state in mind, to me Obv says AU, but the Rev says XF45. Could be AU in hand if it is a late die state coin, but I would have to have it in hand. My address is 145 5th S...... Very nice coin though. I know I'm jealous.
