My uncle has just passed away suddenly and with his death he has left me a major coin collection...I've been able to look up most coin values but I have 2 questions. When rolling bags and bags of Bicentential Half dollars and quarters I wondered if these are special. I have 13 rolls of 1976 Quarters and 8 rolls of 1976 half dollars. Any ideas of value there all in excellent AU condition by the way of their looks.
Thanks!
Anyone who pays a premium for all but the most highly graded or error bicentennial business clad halves is getting shafted imo. The 1976s along with the 1971s are by far the easiest to find in the wild ~>25%. Don't believe me? Just do a little half searching and you'll be swimming in so many you'll be hard pressed to get rid of them all. They're a dreadful nuisance. Maybe after a hundred years or so and one or two anti-bicentennial crusades by CRHers fed up with them they'll be worth something.
The bi-quarters are quite common too but not to the extreme degree that the halves are.
I agree with others that it is possible to pawn them off to the unsuspecting public though.
