How many of you keep photo records as well as "paper" records of each coin in your collections?

Thought of it. Probably will set a limit on which ones I photograph first, such as the more rare, expensive, and unique ones. With trading up all the time, this is a hard task to keep up with.

It does take some time, but well worth it! You see wonderful details when you can blow up the pictures and can see errors/variety markers much easier.

If I started right now taking photos of every coin in my collection and purchased no more as of now, I would still be taking photos in the year 3746, approximately. My really big problem would be by adding more coins all the time, the estimated year would have to be increased.

Carl, I would like to know how you did your maths to obtain 3746 More seriously, I already have problems to find the motivation to make pics of some of my better coins. I would like to have pics of my complete collection but I believe I can already be happy that I have so far managed to keep my database up to date.

I have photos of all of my coins aside from common year, circulated ones. So it ends up being basically any coin with more than $20. I made an HTML document that contains a table of all of the coins with thumbnail photos that link to full size images. In this, I've also noted the bullion that I own, though not with photos.

Quote: Carl, I would like to know how you did your maths to obtain 3746 Please note I did say approximately. This to me means plus or minus a few days in either direction. I did for a minute wonder just how long it really would take. Considering I know I have well over 3,000 Mercury dimes alone. Over 100 Albums almost all full. 9 of those 2 row Whitman boxes for 2x2's and also full. Then of course there is those proof and uncirc sets, rolls of uncirc coins and on and on and on. Then too there is the problem of taking the slides off in the Albums to take photos of each coin. And then too there is the problem of going to the banks to get the stuff out of the safe deposit boxes. So I sat down and figured out how long all this would take and came up with the year of 3746 approximately. Oddly enough this may not be to accurate considering I didn't take into account Leap Years.

I have way too many coins, and I buy too much.
