I turned 60 yesterday, and we had a nice party last night with about 30 people. I was wanting to create something to give to all the guests to commemorate this milestone birthday, and I came up with a cardboard 2x2 holding two BU Lincoln pennies, one from 1946 and one from 2006, representing my 60 years.

People seemed genuinely pleased with them, several said they were going to steal the idea for an event of their own, and I think I even detected the beginnings of numismatic interest in a couple people.

Since it was such a hit, I thought I'd share the idea with you all. Here's a scan:

that was a great idea, and happy birthday. It would work well for me yet but something to keeep in mind in 29 years when I am 60. I just think at my age you would see no differece in pennys but who know what the peeny will look like in 29 year or if we will even have one. but thank you for sharing the idea.

Who ever said that old dogs don't learn new tricks?

Great idea and one to remember for later use.

Happy birthday Janknez, and hope you have another 60!

Hey OldDan, have they made Lincoln Cents long enough for you to be able to do the same thing for your next birthday? LOL

Hey and a Happy Birthday to you. Now if you really want to remember it and have all of us remember it also, you could just ask everyone here if they want one of those. If they say yes, ask for a PM and send them one. What better way to remember your Birthday. By the way not a bad idea at all. For me next year I will have to make one with a 1937 cent though.

Well, if you're serious (I suspect otherwise), I do have some left, if anybody really wanted one.

What's a PM?
Rest in Peace

A great idea!

Wish I would have thought of it three years ago when I had my 60th birthday party.

Happy Birthday by the way.

PM = Personal Message (e-mail).
