One of my local dealers has one in BU condition (60-63). He is asking$1850. Is this fair? What would you all expect to pay for a mint state 09 S VDB?

I would only buy this coin certified by one of the "big 3". Is it a BN or RB?
Also, what grade is it? 60,61,62,63.

It is listed on their website as Premium BU - not graded and no picture. The company has great coins and I have bought some higher dollar Morgans there prior. Staff/owners seem knowledgeable, and they stand behind their coins if an issue.

I am buying some gold eagles, and I toyed with buying a nice 09 s vdb instead of a gold eagle. This will complete the 09's for my album, and it may be a better investment. Obviously, I would inspect, haggle a little and probably have it graded.

That is beautiful!

I would have a difficult time cracking that slab, let alone putting that one in my album. My goal is to find one to match the rest of my early wheat cents, which hover in the VG~VF range.

Nelrak,

Nobis1,

Your dealer sounds good. See if he will send it to PCGS/NGC first ;)
