My dealer said he would sell me 37 common date Mercury dimes ranging from G to AU for $100. I have never bought this many at one time. Seems like a bit over spot to me, which seems like a good deal. Is it?

That is $98.39 worth of silver.

If you're looking to invest I'd say its alright.

If you get some AU coins it might be worth it.

I'd go for it , it's one of those things where you're pretty much taking a gamble, if they're in poor condition you haven't lost anything, if there are any AUs in there, then you've won.

It's a risk I'd likely take ;)

Sounds like an ok deal to me, especially with the chance of AUs.

I approve of this deal. :)

One question I ask myself is "what do I think he'll buy this back for next week/month/year/whatever?"

In this case, I think it's very reasonable to believe that some collector or dealer will pay you $95+ for these coins, so I think it's a good deal.

Merc dimes instead of bland Roosevelts with the portrait of a socialist extraordinaire? That's a no brainer.

yeah, so here is how my morning went friday. While wlaking out to my car before work I notice I have two flat tires. SO the $100 I was planning on spending on shiney silver gets spent on 2 proof black donuts. I still made a trip in afterwards. Picked up 5 rolls of wheats and 6 mercs. the other 94 mercs are gonna have to wait, but on the bright side one of rolls contained a 1909. Made it bitter sweet.
