I had this coin out of the SDB to scan and post on another thread here on the forum so I thought I would share with my world coin friends as well. I don't think I have posted this one before (but I have a terrible memory). Any comments always welcome. This particular coin has an interesting history, it was one of the center coins to a clump of coins salvaged from the "Coffins Patch" wreck off the Florida coast by a friend of mine. I also have the "MoF" version from the same source. The outside coins in the clump were pretty messed up but the inner coins were sweet.

Very nice/rare 1733 Fleet piece... Straight from the mint detail imparted with a strong strike, nice broad flan, good denticles. That bit of corrosion by the date really doesn't detract, basically blends with the surroundings... It certainly is much better preserved than the majority of 1733 Fleet cobs/pillars out there, many of which are really seaworn. Compare, for example, this dog 1733 Mo:

Like you said, center of the clump makes all the difference...

Here is it's brother from my collection, not as rare as the MX version but makes a beautiful matched set.

That's pretty cool how the encrustation of coral/etc. protected the inner coins for so long!
