I just traded some early Washington Proofs for this ancient lady. Although there is some corrosion, she still has great devices on the obverse and the hair really stands out. Question one - your guess on grade and two - is it morally legal to put her in the first Large Cent slot of a 7070. I know it calls for Draped Busts but I have this urge to slap the 1794 in there. Thoughts? Paleoguy

That's a beauty. That is more hair detail than I've seen on any that I've been looking at around here. If you don't mind my asking about how much do you have wrapped up in that one?

That's a tough question Junior E. I did a horse trade of 1938-1964 Washington Proofs for it and additionally received a 1920 Pilgrim Commem MS-65. I'd say I have around $600 retail in it, give or take.
Rest in Peace

You've got a realistic price in it. The thinness of the letters and detail sharpness are much like an acid-date nickel. Only difference was the acid was prolly in the ground, and took a lot longer.

Yes I do Smokeriderdon. Or rather did for decades. Also mineral specimens. When one put on the years and lugging big rocks for miles back to the truck becomes an issue, the logical next step for a "collectaholic" is coins. That's where I find myself now and I love it!

You take casual trading to a whole 'nother level. A 1794 large cent? Way to go!

I like it, 1794 S-22 fairly early die stage. R-1 Details of an XF-45 moderate corrosion but no major damage. I would net grade it as a F-12.

Thanks for the evaluation Conder. I'll file that away with the coin. It boggles the mind to daydream about the pockets/purses this coin must have visited before being dropped.
