I run into ALOT of gold plated stuff , would it be worth picking up if I can get it for extremely low cost (50c or so)? The local goodwill has bins of the stuff and are almost giving it away.

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking to do with it. But gold plated can be an iffy thing. Gold is very maleable, and a very very small amount can be flattened and stretched more then you think you could. Which means, with gold plated its probably not using enough gold to be worth much, if anything
Rest in Peace

A gram of gold can be beaten out into a square meter of area, beating it so that it is thin enough to become translucent. Light that passes through the translucent gold will appear greenish-blue because gold reflects yellow , orange , and red light.
