I don't have any experience grading these guys, but I thought $40 was a reasonable deal, so how did I do?

Thats a very nice coin, looks to be AU50 to me. These are really hard in high grade, there aren't any available where I live and I need one for my type set :(

Nice pick up!

Looks to be in great condition to me. Can't help with the price paid however. Either way, nice grab.

I think a pretty good deal. An 80 to 85 dollar FMV coin.
When I first looked at it I thought it was an 1863
Rest in Peace

Solid xf, easily worth more. A much scarcer date than what you usually see.

Photos are kinda dark but it looks at least AU and if cleaned that isn't obvious to me. I agree with Biggfredd about the date. You always see the common 1864 (large motto) and 1865 coins. Although the dates from 1866-1869 are much less common they usually carry little or no premium. Your coin is therefore something of a "sleeper" and was a nice pickup at an excellent price.

Yeah, for some reason my camera had trouble taking photos of this coin. It is used to photographing silver coins I guess.
