I think a wise band once sang...."Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I have 64 ounces of pure 99.9 silver baby!" I stopped by a new COIN shop today, just one mile from where my grand parents live, and oddly enough my cousin once had a T-shirt shop in exact same store.... Nice fellow named Steve, and he had the typical stuff in a small area of three cases in horseshoe fashion. This guy here is very organized, and he had everything set up very tediously in each case. Nice graded gold eagles and older 5 and 2.5 half eagles. Nice ASE's, and others like old Morgans, Peace dollars, etc., many old coins, many places, coin sets, etc..... Anyhow, he said he would let me have 3 graded ms-69 ASE's for 46 each, which totaled up to $150.77 with tax ( ), or they would have been $138 total. The years are 2001, 1997, and 1992. I already had a graded 1990, and a colored 1999, and a loose lightly toned 1995, as well as 2000 in nice case with border.... I had also said I would take some more pictures for you all of my other silver coins/bar/bullion, in which I did not get good up close pictures in earlier post. Hope you all enjoy, tedious work this re-sizing, lol.... Edited by Silverhawk74 06/20/2011 8:04 pm

That's a good purchase I like the lunar tiger, and dragon coins the best of all. Your silver collection is very impressive.

Thanks AC....
Good eye as well, as I find the detail on that Lunar dragon some of the best I have seen. No wonder it commands so much money, and is the favorite of the series by most....

Thanks Muddler.... I just looked on ebay, and these three new ms-69 graded ASE's go from 60 to 70 bucks on ebay on buy it nows.... On another note, he had a nice 3 ASE set in case, but I assumed it was high and didn't even get a quote on it. He also had a nice platinum liberty 1/10th oz. ms-69 for $200 I liked alot as well....

Thanks TC....
I am gonna steer away from the graded silver, but if I can get them for 50 total each, I will take that all day, as I expect one day they will command more than that....
Plus if one groups up several different years in a set to sell one day, that makes them all a bit more valuable perhaps than if sold solo. For the time and work put into the sets, and perhaps a key date or two....

Way to go, Hawk! Very nice collection you have there. As a WW II history buff, my favorite is still the ME-262.

Great collection hawk, all I can think about after seeing it is purchasing more and more silver :). And gold too.

Although it isn't a problem now because you are using a digital camera, if you ever take a picture with your phone and upload it please be careful enough to remove the EXIF data from the photos to protect yourself and investments.

Good purchase. Too bad that darn tax man had to take a bite out of your fun! It's nice that he is in close proximity to your Grandparents. You'll probably get to see them a little more often! Silver is acting like it wants to see $40 again pretty soon. Gold's at $1550 again. Life is good.

I could have swore it was illegal to charge tax when purchasing coins.....after all, you're just exchanging currency for currency. Both of my local coin shops tell me that anyways....I've never been charged tax when purchasing coins. I have for supplies, but not coins.

Another shop here, Southern Bullion charges tax as well, so I assumed it was a state thing....
Paying a little tax is a small price to pay for nice silver on hand and out the door. Convenient stores are generally a bit higher, because they are convenient....

taxes on coins are on a state by state basis.
