I found this 2003 Roosevelt dime. The head is very smooth especially on the face side. the back isalso smooth in the middle except for the letters. The N on the one is larger and cut in half. Any help is greatly appreciated. Photos:

Sorry, but I cannot see much of anything in those blurry photos.

It could be or may not be an error or post mint damage. A better image would help.

would definitely need some clearer pictures to be able to tell for sure what is going on. If it is a Grease Filled Die then it is not super rare but not all that common either. I think the main thing it would have going for it is how much detail is missing and it being on the Obverse and reverse (which is really strange, and makes me lean toward maybe something happened post mint). I am no error collector nor am I an expert on them but if you will get some clearer pictures up we have quite a few members here that do collect errors and can tell you exactly what is going on with the coin

Definitely need better photos. To me it looks like the obverse is dented in and the reverse has a bump out.So that would most likely be post mint damage ( PMD)Will be waiting for those better pics John1

That is one of the best errors of this type I have seen.

I've never seen a grease strike on a dime involving both faces where the center of the design is obliterated but the periphery is untouched. I suspect it was altered outside the Mint. Better photos would help. If it is a genuine error, then it certainly deserves close study.

I hope these pictures are better. My camera dies right after I finally got a good picture of the back.

Quote: I've never seen a grease strike on a dime involving both faces where the center of the design is obliterated but the periphery is untouched. I suspect it was altered outside the Mint That was what I was thinking also because I had never seen an Grease Filled Die on both sides that looked like this, that is why I suspected it was PMD but would not be able to tell for sure without better pictures I also want to let you know anyone surfing through your pictures can see your Sons wazoo in the picture of him taking a bath, just mentioned this because this is probably not something I would want everyone surfing the web to be able to see of someone in my family. If it were me I would start a new album for these pictures you are going to post on a forum
