Pretty vague about what the disability is. I really hate seeing these stories. If they are true, it's really sad and they are fighting a never ending battle to pay for the rising medical costs. If it's not true, it's sad because someone with a kind heart might actually respond and get scammed.

snip> so I am hoping that someone might want a old coin not worth much but would like to help a great kid who will have alot to deal with in his lifetime But you never know. <unsnip.
Sadly, either the seller does not research the value, easily found {$100 max. USD}or does not know that any very valuable coin should NOT be simply stored in a basic stapled 2x2. I won't go into slabbed, or certified.

I have plenty of coins that were my grandfathers that are worth over 100.00 that are in 2x2's like this. heck one of the 55/55 Lincoln Cents that was in his collections was just in a paper towel wrapped around it with a rubber band around it. The VF-XF 1932-D Washington quarter was also in an old 2x2 with staples

It's hard to reconcile the flippant tone of that auction to parents with a disabled kid. Seriously, where I live there are plenty of programs to help families with real needs.

Every $100+ coin that I have bought has been in a 2x2. Just saying.

At least you'll get 200.00$ back in ebay bucks!

Umm, Medicare covers 80% of most medical and all hospital costs, especially for a minor under 19, that is, if the parents are willing to fork over the quarterly premium. If they are completely broke, there is always state mandated Medi-Cal services, so such a sob story does not exactly fly. Because it's a minor that's disabled, you can bet s/he qualifies for SSI disability income, based off of the earnings of either parent. Life can be indeed, hard.

Quote: I was thinking the other day I gave a twenty dollar bill to some kids selling juice at a stand Bet he got change. Sorry, if you have money to throw around like that, I don't need your (probably fake) sob story.

What kills me is when he says he has no idea what it's worth. He just shot himself in the foot right there.
