You're talking MS-66 and above and I wouldn't buy one claimed as such unless in a NGC, PCGS or ANACS certified slab. Report this Post to the Staff

cladking Pillar of the Community United States 2270 Posts	Posted 11/09/2006 11:12 pm There's also a very scarce Denver doubled die obverse that's worth a lot even in circulated grades. There were probably more than twenty million of these set aside back in '75/ '76. many of these have since been spent but there are still large numbers sitting in rolls and bags. Gems aren't even very tough though choice gems and better are nearly as scarce as other dates of that era. The best examples can be found in either the '75 or '76 mint sets but are much more common in the '76 set. Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps. Report this Post to the Staff
Bryan1315 Bedrock of the Community United States 14454 Posts	Posted 11/09/2006 11:35 pm the thing about the 1976 quarters is everyone and their brother saved these things and they are just so plentiful in BU condition that the supply out does the demand and makes them only woth 25 cent even in BU condition, that is unless like irishraider said it is a very high grade of ms66 or above then the price can jump up but anything under a MS66 isn't worth slabbing because it would cost more to slab then you could ever sell it for. If anyone pays more than 25 cent for a BU 1976 Quarter they just dont know much about coins Report this Post to the Staff

I can't imagine that anyone would be willing to give much more than face unless the coin was high MS. The exception of course being the silver issues. I've never seen one in circulation though. TSmith3510 Valued Member United States 455 Posts	Posted 11/10/2006 5:38 pm I was saving these back in the 70s when they were new. It was refreshing back then to see a new design circulating. I probably collected around 200 of them, then my mother gave me her hoard. I still have them. I know they're worth no more than face value and it would probably make sense to unload them, but I've hung onto them all these years anyway. I guess they're nostalgic. Report this Post to the Staff
