I was looking for something else in my coin locker and came across a 1975 S Proof set. I have no idea where on when I got it, but thought I'd ask if anyone knows it's current value.

It's in a small black flip lid container. Interestingly, the one. five and ten are dated 1975. However, the quarter, half and dollars are dated 1776 to 1976. Perhaps its a 1976 proof set? Seems a bit unusual.

Is this a typo? You'll have people coming out of the woodwork wanting this set if it's not.

The set you have is yes a 1975 Proof set. AS you see the penny, nickle and dime are dated 1975. Since there were bicentennial coins made at the end of 1975 they were ones put in proof sets. HOpe that helps

The mint knew they'd start production of the bicentennial coins early in mid-'75 so they didn't produce any '75 dated 25c, 50c and dollars for circulation figuring they'd be hoarded. Since they weren't made for circulation they weren't made for mint and proof sets either.

This "mixture" of coins is typical for both the mint and proof sets of 1975. It might be noted that the Ike was redesigned for 1976 so these coins will look a little different on both the obverse and reverse.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Interesting. The Royal Australian Mint (RAM) is not adverse to producing proof and mint coins that wont be released into circulation. The 2006 Proof and mint sets have 1 and 2 cent pieces that were removed from circulation in 1990 and 1989 respectively.

The 2007 proof and mint sets have nclt $1 and 20 cent pieces. The RAM won't let a chance to make a quid go by. To get a complete set of 2007 Australian coinage, you have to purchase a proof set, a mint set and a baby set. And that will still not get you all of the many $1 nclt coins sold separately.

I bought my 1975 proof set for 12.00 that was a year ago is I would say it is somewhere between 12-16 dollar. I always get a very good deal on my proof set from my dealer. and Mint Product.com has it for 13.00 hope that help you for value. book value might be different but I figured you may what to know as well what dealer actually sell them at.

I was once confused about that same thing when I first started collecting proof sets but what everyone has said is correct, there is also a 1975-S proof set with No "S" dime
