How do you tell the difference between the small date and the large date on the 1970s Lincoln Cent I can't tell the difference any help would be appreciated.

On the small date, the bottom of the 7 is even with the bottom of the 0

On the large date, the bottom of the 7 is lower than the bottom of the 0

Thank you biokemist6 that helped alotI'm gonna have to check mine I have 5 of them.There's one that I really hope is the small date variety.

The easiest way for me to spot the small date on the unc coin is the bottom loop of the "9". On the large date it points down at the mint mark and all the small date it curls up to nearly horizontal.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Best thing is to check out coppercoins.com web site where they are not only shown but well explained. The same guy that has that web site has a few books out on just Lincoln Cents. There are not only large pictures of each but several pointers not normally explained.
