John1 Moderator United States 56855 Posts	Posted 06/25/2011 06:39 am I think what you have is deteriorated die with split copper plating on the mint mark.Until 1990 the mint mark was put on the die by hand so the MM can be in various places below the date. And because the MM was applied by hand is why there are RPM's. Starting in 1990 the MM became part of the design of the master die so no more RPM's John1 Report this Post to the Staff
