Got in change from my local wally-world self-checkout bin. At first, I only thought, "cool, a wheat". Scoped it, and lo and behold!

.

A-Very-Pleasant-Surprise

I guess even an attack pig finds his acorn once in a while!
It's a 56-D.
My ? for you all, is it just a 2-punch RPM, or a better 3-punch RPM? I see evidence of three hits, but I'm not all that savvy re RPM's going into triple punches.

Very nice. I've yet to find a nice RPM. I've found some very mild ones that I dont care for but been looking for a dramatic one for years now.

Looks like the 1956D-1MM-001 listed on coppercoins.com website. Check it out and see if you can match up any die markers. Nice Find!

Usually the first RPM found by variety collectors and gets the monkey on their back for more. It is just a D/D. No third D. The center mark is the West's center loop.
Looks like the die state is between the MDS/LDS images. Not a bad find.

I really need to check my coins for errors. I might have one that could pay for a new truck

yeah, it was a real pain in the "ahems" to get a good pic. of it, but I'll check out coppercoins and see where it falls. Good thing I have a good 'scope and camera, but sheesh, I envy those members who make these pic.'s seem so easy, LOL.
I think I'm going to get very serious about checking out early Lincoln RPM's from change now, who knows what I let slip by all these years, sigh.

Don't worry about past coins spent, just check closer in the future.

Took me about three years of looking to find one of those. By that time I had hundreds of RPMs.
