I stopped by the coin shop up by my grand parents today, Cable coins and picked up a few more oz. of silver from Steve. I will be up to 68 total oz., once that ASE MS 70, via that no name grading company arrives, lol....

So today I grabbed a loose 2001 ASE, nothing special and a mark or two, but just short of 40 bucks for it, so not bad. And wow this cool ASE/Britannia set for 2002 and 2003 that I had seen before on ebay, but could only find one example tonight, and the buy it now is 155 total with shipping. I got my set for 100, and the other coin for close to 40, so will do. Here is the high set on ebay below, and man I love that Britannia, as I do that entire series....

Interesting note about Steve, he believes in silver as do most, and expects it will continue to out perform gold, but does not believe it will ever be worth more than gold. And he does not have much pure silver for sale now (mostly 90% older coins), as he has hoarded most into his own collection, in which he said it would take days to shift through. I was lucky someone had just sold him that loose ASE. He said the store items he sales, is stuff that came in off the street that he bought, and could not have made those connections without the store, to get that stock. I thought that was very interesting....

Nice, love the Britannias.
I've wanted one for a while and today I picked up a toned, encapsulated 2002 for $50. There are a few scratches in the capsule. When I got it home and looked closer, I noticed a light die clash to the left of the trident, of the queen's nose and forehead, too weak to show up in pictures, but the right clash by the wrist shows up well. Sort of have mixed feelings on this round.

I never worry much about capsule scratches, as they are gonna happen here and there, but the flaw is a tough break. It is still a real nice coin for 50 bucks, 1 more oz. of silver either way....

I know these flaw coins have a following and the unique mistake and toning may make it more valuable perhaps....

Thanks Silverhawk, FYI, according to Wikipedia, the 2002 was the second lowest mintage @ 48,816, so I guess we're lucky to have one. Also did some asking around and you're right, since it isn't minted on the scale of maples/eagles, and is a proof round ( ie. quality control should have caught the clashes ), the clashes could make it a more desirable item.
I assume yours was clash free.

Yes my Britannia is clash free, but I could see how it could happen after closely examining mine, as the border is that unique box line border, for lack of a better wording....

Nice to hear of that sub 50 thousand mintage, which always is nice, especially on a sought after coin like a Britannia. May not be as popular as an ASE, but perhaps it is more popular in Europe. I think it is wise that they made so many different designs each year, to create variety and collection and more sells in the end....
