Hello All,

My Canadian coin knowledge is minimal at best.

I just dug a very pretty green Canadian coin here in Virginia USA on my property. 1881 Cent.....Mine has the missing O ...but oddly also has the following inscribed on the face:
L.G.R. Aug 85

Anyone know what this LGR may refer to? Any idea if this is a valuable coin? Thank you.

Here is a better photo of the missing O portion.....Also, the additional inscription may be L.G.B. as opposed to what I stated previous.

That's fascinating, I have no idea and I wish she could speak. Given the number of us, someone may know something, be patient.

LGB is a model train type, but don't think they went back that far.

Is it LGR, or LGB.

The coin is a $2-4 at best. The open O is common for that year. I don't know what the LGB is. I think the most interesting thing about the coin is that it was in the ground in Virginia.
