that coin suffers from zinc rot(corrosion)

The copper plating was nicked or scratched down to the zinc. The zinc has hence started to corrode away. Spend it before it disintegrates.

I find quite a few of these metal detecting. I have found 2010 Zincolns with rot in the ground already. Pretty crazy imo

yes corrosion. Maybe combined with a little helpful electrolosis in standing water.

...And..... clearing of throat, with exagerated, friendly, feigned importance..... this would be called a "cent". (In England one would find a penny). Welcome to the forum!
