Fake Cob & Pillars From The Same Seller

Hi,

Wanted a confirmation, as this is from a dealer I used to deal with, and to whom I returned the only pillar I bought as it was a highly suspicious fake.
He refund me with no issues, and I avoid him since then (most of his coin look alike, cleaned).
If I'm sure he is almost always selling crap, It will be a pleasure to report all of his coins as such - just want to be sure before starting this.

Here is a 8 reales 1744 from mexico :

could you give a gram weight on both please, and why do think cob counterfeit ?, just lettering MM,? porosity by it self doesn't look bad have you tested the silver ?
pillars do look kinda just black and white ....

Those two coins are currently on sale on ebay, I don't have them (and won't bid on them)

Description of the pillar : MONEDA DE PLATA DE 8 REALES TIPO COLUMNARIO DE 1744. CECA DE MEXICO, REY FELIPE V. MBC-. C-5. PESA 27 GRAMOS
As I said, I don't like that one because : Surface looks too 'clean' (should be damaged as the letters), lettering too irregular / thin, but to be sure I would ask the seller for a picture of the rim.
Description of the cob : MONEDA DE PLATA DE 8 REALES TIPO MACUQUINO DE 1700. CECA DE LIMA. MBC-. C-5.PESA 25,5 GRAMOS
As I said, I think it's not good because : Surface looks porous or bubbled, I was wrong though about the letter P under the cross (Potossi), but on the other site L (lima) (it's an 8, and the L is on the right)
That one could be fine after all - but I don't 'like' it for some reason.

went to world coin price guide found it (pillars )
see what you mean letters to thin ! good eye
weight very close .no help there ,,

Both coins are fake. The pillar looks all wrong. Fonts are wrong, letters aren't "sharp", Mo mintmark looks wrong.
The cob is a common CHINESE counterfeit, so common it is listed in Daniel Sedwicks "modern pirates" section as #FC53673. You can look it up at http://www.sedwickcoins.com/fake_cobs.htm
or go to the link to his site at the top of the Forum and click on the section for "modern pirates"

OK, it's confirmed then, that guy is selling many fake coins ...
Heads up for anyone coming from a search engine - take care when buying coins (at lease spanish pillars, reales, cobs) from degodoslaurus or degodos (he got 2 accounts - one in USD, the other in euro)

Just rechecked my inventory, got 2 coins from him (70€ total, a real and a half real) - and now that I see them again, I have doubts about them.
Will have to check them more closely.
