Hi all, Could you help me identify these two coins. I think they are possibly Commemorative coins as I cant find them all in the Krause Books at all. I think the dates of them are possibly 1995 (BE 2538) as they appear on the coins. One seems to be the celebration of the queen mothers life as it shows the dates she lived (1900 - 1995, 2443 - 2538). The other I think is the princess dated 1995. Any ideas when these were minted?, their possible value?, their material? and their value in baht? any extra details would be appreciated!

I think you're looking at commemorative madallions here rather than coins. The coins usually have the baht value on the reverse somewhere.
I'll have my (Thai) wife look at them and translate them for me in abot 8-10 hours. She's asleep at the moment so you'll understand if I don't wake her now!

Chris(?)

Sorry for the slight delay, my wife went shopping (enough said).

The first medallion is indeed the King's mother but her royal title was Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother. The two dates below are her date of birth and death. The third date on the reverse is the rememberence of her cremation. The official length of mourning in this cae was, I think 300 days or so.
The second medallion is to celebrate Princess Galayani's (sister of the King) completion of her 6th cycle of life or her 73nd birthday, it's actally dated 6th May 2538 (1996) her 72nd birthady would have been 2537 (1995) hence the possible confusion. It's a Buddhiast thing to honor every 12 year completed cycle of life. I don't know the significance of the design of two near circle and the diamond.
No idea about composition or value. I've never been offered or even seen either of them before.
