I don't mean to rain on your parade, but a number of 1889's have High 9's.

Yours looks closer to VAM-8 that VAM-7 - note the date location.

I have been a way for a while but...SD is correct, the date location is better on VAM 8 than on VAM 9, however the toning is very deep and I believe there are signs of clashing which would further its designation for the proper VAM number..Close up pic's of the reverse IN GOD and the neck would help a lot to identify the correct VAM number G....
