I have what I believe is a Chinese or Japanese coin. It is made from rock/stone of some sort, and seems to have some some white coating on the outside. The closest symbol I can match is a 6 in the Chinese 1-10, but it's not an exact match. It may not even be a coin. If anybody has any ideas, as I've been stumped. I just want to know what it is, or if anybody has every seen something like it. Thank you.

to CCF!

Can you provide a measurement in diameter? I can't identify it, either, but someone will be along to give you some ideas. I would say you're right that it's not a coin - I don't see any indication of country or denomination - but exactly what it is, I dunno.

Welcome to the forum. I asked my Chinese wife to look at your pictures and she said it isn't a coin of any sort. The character in the first photo means "square", which doesn't make much sense to me. Her English is very limited; so, I couldn't get a good translation for the second photo but it seems to be a phrase for good luck. The object was probably used for some sort of adornment.

From your description "made from rock/stone of some sort, and seems to have some some white coating", it sounds like a porcelain gambling token.
