CaptainFwiffo Pillar of the Community United States 4132 Posts	Posted 07/06/2011 2:24 pm I'm not much of a Bullion collector, but I really like the design of the Britannia coins, particularly the Phillip Nathan ones (and the 2003 in particular.) I was thinking of getting some, but looking on ebay, they seem really pricey. What's a reasonable premium to pay over spot for, e.g. a 2003 Britannia? How about the proofs or proof sets? These are more of a collectable than a bullion and the RM keeps mintages at 100,000, or less for some years. I picked up a 2009 from my local bullion dealer for $53 cdn, he also had 2010s for $55 cdn , a higher price since his cost had gone up. Silverhawk74 Pillar of the Community United States 3670 Posts	Posted 07/06/2011 9:54 pm I have a MS-69 Britannia 2010 and a 2003 in a set with a 2002 ASE, and I like that 2003 design as well. I got the set for like 100, so 108 total with tax (so lets say 54 bucks for each coin in the 2 coin set), as unfortunately I pay tax here at local shops. That 2003 has a mintage of like 48,000 something seems like is what West Canuk told me in another thread I posted when I got that set.... It seems like a lot, but they are soooo nice, and the mintage is low (48k or whatever compared to millions of ASE each year). I was thinking of maybe trying to gradually collect the 2Â£ uncirculated for all the Phillip Nathan designs (which AFAIK is 1997-2006, with the 1997 being a very small issue of proofs only), and then maybe getting the 4-coin proof sets of my favorites like 2003. I think in time people will catch on to their nice design, 1 oz. of silver even though it is not a pure silver coin, and the fact that you get different designs each year, as opposed to the same exact ASE design every year, even though it is a great design, but a little variety never hurts I always say....
