Is this a good way to find special coins? If so do you just go and buy them? And will they just take them back?

Thanks

I don't search rolls, but I have learned from various threads:
- people tend to have 1-3 banks they get coins from: some in rolls, some in boxes of rolls. Sometimes at face value, sometimes a bit more.
- not all banks have rolls to sell
- customer wrapped rolls (CWR) are best, rolls from banks/government not as good
- normally people use different banks as "dump banks" where they can take coin rolls after searching

Yes, I go through about $700-$1500 in coins a week, mostly nickels, dimes and halves. I get about 2 keeper nickels per box ($100), either Buffalo nickels, silver War Nickels or the occasional variety or error. I get about 1.5 silver dimes per box ($250), and about 1/6th of those are Mercury dimes. I haven't gotten much good out of boxes of half dollars, but I've gotten several silver from loose halves and small numbers of customer wrapped rolls. When I get pennies I average about 17 wheat cents per box.

I always take the non-keepers back to a different bank. That's the cardinal rule of roll hunting. Like I have one bank where I pick up my dimes and nickels twice a week, and a different bank where I dump them, and then a different bank where I order boxes of halves, and then dump those at the bank where I get the nickels and dimes.

Definitely rotate banks. Otherwise they might get sick of it and make you stop. Fortunately, there are about 20 banks in a five-mile radius of me...
