If anyone is interested - HSN has one of their coin shows on and is offering the 3 piece ASE set for $599.00.

I wouldn't buy from them but the coins do look nice!

Hi Mopar74, Nice to see you back

Anyone who missed out during the ample window of ordering time at the usmint and didn't pick them up for $100 will now be subject to the whims of the marketplace, and unfortunately HSN is part of it.
The 2006-W reverse proof has become a semi-key to the ASE set now, running a far second to the ultra pricey 1995-W. I don't see them getting cheap anytime at all, but you can still get the sets for $200 more or less on ebay. It's anyone's guess how they will do now they are sold out, but mine is the sets will keep on going up for awhile until a semblance of equilibrium is reached in the market. I'll be watrching for a spike to sell a few of my extras into

Thanks FastFords. I'm on this forum just about everyday. Lurking and trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can.

I also watch those coins shows every chance I get. Not to buy, but I enjoy seeing the coins. I placed a belated order to the mint on 11/12 for the 3 piece ASE set. Their website says it's still processing so I'm hopeful! At the present I'm trying to fill dansco albums with all the $1 issues. Sacs and ASEs are done, Ikes and SBA almost, and the Peace and Morgans are still a work in progress. I guess I shouldn't have waited so long to order. Hate to think that ebay may be one of the methods I resort to, but maybe the prices will level out.

The people running the prices up are not serious numismatists, and before long will be running towards the next shiny object of speculation. Having missed the initial issue, go concentrate on something else and look back into it in a year or two. Perhaps the prices will still be a little high, but I am confident that the current market is a demand-driven spike which isn't sustainable in the long term.

if this were the Gold Buffalo, or even the 2 coin set I would have to agree with SuperDave but if we are talking about the 3 peice set with the Reverse proof, I beleive this is the one coin that is going to make the set, now I dont think the high prices people are paying for PR70's will last long, but I do beleive the 3 peice sets ungraded will still stay high
