Hey everyone. Lucked up on some coins at an individuals house by accident while on vacation. Found these coins by just having a conversation with friends. A full jar of silver. I could have got the whole lot but chose just the coins I wanted. They still have a lot more I will check back next time I go up there.
32 Mercury dimes 1917 - 1945
56 Roosevelt dimes 1946 - 1963
30 Washington quarters 1932 1938 1942 -1963
14 Franklin halves 1948 - 1963
5 X face + 1

Great years for my collection Grade F to AU/MS

Correction.I have my math wrong.
Averaged out to melt. I paid $10.00 a piece for the franklins.
and the dimes I paid 5X face plus a dollar. the quarters was just a throw in from them at two dollars a piece. These folks were about to go to the bank face value.

Hmm interesting that you get congratulated on this pickup. If a dealer were to offer these buy prices, people would be screaming bloody murder on this forum...lol.

coinhunter. I am not a dealer. They were going to just give them to me.
This was between friends.

Interesting sideline: My sister who was a teller in a bank, had a customer cash in 14 $200 NCLT gold coins, which were legal tender for $200. AGW per coin 9.1667 grammes.

My sister bought them from the bank for $2,800, and kept them for a few years. The gold value went over $200 per coin, she had a warm fuzzy feeling about her purchase. Then she decided to sell her house and buy another, so she sold her gold holding for $200 each, because the gold had dropped back below $200 per coin, but she needed the capital.

Those coins are now worth about $450 each in gold value. That would have been a 225% increase in dollar terms.

The value of her house has quadrupled in dollar terms over the same period.
House prices have not fallen in Oz. Perhaps they will in the future.

I am faulting you for the deal. I am merely pointing out that many on this forum would be ranting and raving if a dealer offered those buy prices. So if it came across as a personal attack on you, it wasn't in any way, shape, or form. It was just pointing out the hypocrisy that exists when comparing how dealers transact with customers versus private deals. It was somewhat tongue in cheek...
