I am 23 War Nickels out of 20 boxes, 6 buffalos and no V nickels. No proofs either. I havent searched a box in a while but it seems to be drying up.

Quote: Filled most of our nickel books though. Well done! Searching nickels may not make you rich, but it will fill a Jefferson nickel album (or folders) faster than searching every other modern series. This is not including clad-only runs or just the Statehood Quarters; although I believe that a nickel searcher could complete their Jefferson nickel set faster than a dime or quarter searcher could fill those shortened sets.

We have a lot of nickel roll searchers on the forum ... and in general we do so for the thrill of the treasure hunt. There are several members who have completed the entire circulation strike set 1938-Date from bank rolls ... and I am getting close. Suggest you check out the nickel searching thread that is going on ... https://goccf.com/t/24785&whichpage=174If you are into numbers and wonder how often certain nickels are being found from rolls today ... you can read my 250,000 coin searched update here: https://goccf.com/t/92645&whichpage=1IMHO ... roll searching for nickels brings a great variety of finds, great joy .... and the real possibility of completing the entire circulation strike set at face value. Hope you join us ... and share some finds. David

I've found two war nickles so far this year. No Buffalo's or Liberty's, but I only 9-10 rolls a week.

yankee1227, Welcome to nickel roll collecting. I started collecting nickels from rolls after having penny roll collected as a child in the 1960s. The reason for going after nickels is that, since they have remained unchanged for longer than any other coin, there are still more good finds in circulation than the other coins. My brother and I collected pennies as children. Now my son and I collect nickels. We have found 3 Liberty nickels and dozens of buffalo and silver nickels. But the ones we like to collect the most are the other "uncommon" Jefferson nickels (mintage under 15 million) and the 1938P. We keep track of these statistically as I have posted on the threads the nickelsearcher listed above.

I just started searching nickel rolls. I started with 10 rolls. I already found 1 War Nickel and 2 1968S. Not a bad start, I think.

I have been through about 11 boxes of nickels total and have found 1 1918 buffalo, one 1896 V nickel, and 9 War Nickels.
