1919 You can see the tops of the 9's and there isn't enough distance between them for it to be a 29.

Try Nic-A-Date. It will do in 2 seconds what vinegar will do in 2 weeks or more and you don't have to immerse the whole coin.

And you'll be left with an ugly stain just in the date area that SCREAMS restored date! The good thing about the vinegar method is it treats the whole coin and retains an even, though noticeable, appearance.
Rest in Peace

If you soak a nic-a-dated coin in vinegar, will it even out the stain any?

Yes, although if you use the Nic-a-Date carefully (wash the coin THOROUGHLY when you're done), the stain isn't actually that bad.

The first time I looked I thought 1919. With the blown up picture I see 1929.

I agree with junior_e ... I was sure it was a 1919 until I looked at the bigger image. Where is the "F", is it directly under the second 9? If so it's a 1919, if it's under the 3rd digit, it's a 1929.

Nic a date works great just instead of doing the spot do the whole coin. Or as I've been told and maybe shouldn't be repeating do just the date then rub it back to color with your thumb, theirs also something you can add while rubbing but I forget what it was.. I wasn't aware of the vinegar trick. I love bringing back dates even if they do have a spot on them. Its like the lottery. And being you could never tell what the date was, is a spot really that bad, when its nice and clear. I'll have to post some. I've done about 12 so far I remember 3 were 13's and a few 19's and I don't remember the rest. This was about a year ago, I've got a few more to go. Should make for a fun topic.

1929, you can sort of see the bottom of the 2 pointing towards the nine.
