i think that is awesome! that is the rarest War Nickel to find in circulation. I know that nickelsearcher has gone through 125 boxes of nickels, which is 250,000 nickels.... and he only needs 2 more nickels in the jefferson series and the 1943 d is one of them. the one you found is probably worth melt value because it is so circulated.... but for a roll searcher that is an amazing find!

You need to have 250 or more posts and be a member for at least 90 days to B/S/T. Just a few more to go, it goes fast. Nice find on that War Nickel. John1

I've searched through 134,160 nickels and I've found 2 43Ds. Nice find - that one is tough.

Nice find! Probably too worn to tell, but the '43-D has an RPM variety. 003, I think

Awesome find indeed from circulation. As correctly pointed out above ... I am now at 250,800 nickels searched and still looking for that 1943-D. I'll bestow a few dancing fruit for you. David

Nice Job! Just like me, it was the first silver War Nickel I ever found from circulation. It doesn't happen to most people!
